Dinner & Music : Lumos

Join us for our Friday evening Dinner & Music event featuring Lumos (Susanna Marker & Al Burgasser) with special guest Dan Lyon

Susanna Marker  is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. She has been part of several local bands including Lumos, Red Dirt Road and The Red Dirt Girls, and has also performed as a solo artist.

Al Burgasser, a resident of Sherman, CT has a long history as a respected singer/songwriter as well as performing in a wide variety of venues in the western Connecticut area.  Al has also been very active in promoting public events including hosting Open Mic nights at the JCC in Sherman, co-hosting the Sherman Song Swap (also at the JCC), teaching songwriting and music lessons in local adult education venues, providing performances and lessons to Sherman Seniors (you should hear them play their Boomwackers!), and promoting and/or participating in many fundraising benefits and community activities over the years.

Dan Lyon  A Connecticut native, Dan Lyon resides in Ridgefield. He received his first guitar at the age of 9 from his older brother Mark Lyon, also a musician. It was not until hearing such guitar greats as Steven Stills and James Taylor that Dan was motivated to get serious about the instrument.  “I only started to practice in earnest when I heard them.” Dan says. “I wanted to evoke the same feelings when playing that they did for me when I listened to their music.”

Honing his sound through the years, Dan began writing his own work, again at his older brother’s encouragement. He has played covers as well as original music in many Connecticut and New York venues. His music is rooted in a clean, open and uncluttered acoustic guitar style. His lyrics describe personal experiences and relationships, what they are or what they could become.

A sample of performing venues include: four appearances at The Bitter End in Manhattan, The Back Fence in Manhattan, and The Town Crier Café in Pawling, New York. Along with playing in many clubs in Connecticut, Dan performed at the Regional Hospice Home Care Benefit in Danbury and PanCare and Ann’s Place. He played alongside Ridgefield songwriter Kevin Briody opening for Smokey Robinson at the Charles Ives Center in Danbury. In his hometown, Dan has performed for Ridgefield First Night Celebration and the Ridgefield Folk concert series. Recent highlights include Daryl’s House July 2023 with George Mallas and Andy’s Cabana December in Key West.
